Senator Diane Rosenbaum won re-election to the Oregon Senate in November 2012. She previously served five terms in the Oregon House for District 42 in Southeast and Northeast Portland before being elected to serve as Senator for District 21 in 2008. Senator Rosenbaum served for 5 years as Senate Majority Leader before being elected by the full Senate to serve as President Pro Tem. As a House member, Senator Rosenbaum served as House Speaker Pro Tem and the House Democratic Whip.

 

As a member of the bipartisan Women’s Health and Wellness Alliance, she advocates for contraceptive parity, paid family leave, and domestic violence prevention. Senator Rosenbaum is President of the National Labor Caucus of State Legislators and serves as a legislative member of the Oregon Hunger Relief Task Force, Oregon Workforce Investment Board, and Oregon Advisory Committee for Genetic Privacy & Research.

 

Previously, Senator Rosenbaum served as Chair and Member of the Oregon Commission for Women (1993 to 1998), as well as member of the Workers’ Compensation Management-Labor Advisory Committee (MLAC), the Safe Employment Education and Training Advisory Committee of Oregon OSHA, and the Oregon State Capitol Foundation.

 

Senator Rosenbaum is a retired central office technician for Qwest and a 28-year member of her union, the Communications Workers of America. She has served as President of the Coalition of Labor Union Women, Executive Board Member of the Oregon AFL-CIO, and the Northwest Oregon Labor Council, and is a founding member of the Workers’ Rights Board of Jobs with Justice.

 

Senator Rosenbaum lives in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood with her husband Jas. Adams. She attended Reed College in Portland.
